ATLAS OF LOST FINDS
Before the tragic fire of Museu Nacional in Rio de Janeiro of 2018, researchers 3D scanned a big quantity of the now lost collection to obtain an additional input of them. After the tragedy, the possibility to re-materialise the digital ghosts looking at the original manufacturing traditions while relating them with contemporary techniques emerged.
This book analyses the passage of history, and the different aspects of preservation of cultural heritage dealing with themes such as pre-Columbian cultures and artefacts, colonialism, lootings, ethnological rights, and approaches of contemporary creators restoring cultural heritage. My proposal to rescue one of the vessels affected after the fire is presented as a conclusion of the document.
